Beef Picadillo offers a variety of flavors in one easily prepared dish. Not just full of flavors but rich in carbohydrates, protein, fiber and more. You won’t believe how a beef recipe can bring both flavors and nutrients when served on a plate.

Picadillo is made up of ground fish meat or beef that comes with diced potato, carrots and tomato savored with soy sauce, other spices and ingredients.

To Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Ground Beef: Here comes the main ingredient.
  • Beef Broth: Brings rich beef taste along with the ground beef.
  • Tomato: Serves as the base for sauce.
  • Potato: Brings lots of nutrients aside from good flavor.
  • Carrots: Additional color and flavor.
  • Green Peas: Adds color and flavor.
  • Raisins: Makes the dish tastier.
  • Onion: Gives flavor to the dish.
  • Garlic: Adds aroma to the food.
  • Olive Oil: Adds sear along with the flavor to the dish.
  • Salt and pepper:  Add as desired.

Preparation:

You can’t go wrong with this easy Classic Beef Picadillo recipe. 

  1. Saute: In a cooking pot, heat oil and saute onion and garlic until tender. Add the ground beef and stir until brown and crisp.
  2. Simmer: Stir in beef broth, tomato and raisins.Let simmer for 10 minutes. Add potato, green peas and carrots. Stir and cook for another 10 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. 
  3. Serve: Simply put on a plate then serve. Best serve while warm.

Tips and Variations:

Some foods are best served hot, so here’s a tip:

  • Sizzle: You can have this served in a hot sizzling plate so that beef grease won’t start to get solid.

Storage:

You can always make more for later meals. That will save you more time.

  • On the Fridge: In an airtight container, put the beef and refrigerate. This can prolong your Beef Picadillo for 2-3 days. 
  • Freeze: Place the dish in a freezer bag or airtight container then freeze. This can last up to 2 weeks.
  • Reheat: When frozen, thaw for 3-4 hours. Heat oil in a pan then pour the picadillo, add some water to have the sauce distributed evenly. 

Classic Beef Picadillo

Serves: 4
Cook time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 750g ground beef
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 500g. diced tomato, canned
  • 1 medium potato, cubed
  • 2 medium carrots, cubed
  • 400g frozen green peas
  • 120g raisins
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
