Bulgogi is a Korean word meaning roasted or grilled thin slices of meat. This famous Korean dish is widely known today. Because of it’s thin cuts that makes the flavor in depth with the meat and adds to its tenderness, Beef Bulgogi will satisfy you every time you chew.

This Beef Bulgogi Recipe is an easy to prepare dish containing ingredients that will surely enhance its natural beef flavor in every strand.

To Recipe

Ingredients

  • Bulgogi Meat: Thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin. Bulgogi meat is also available on the market.
  • Soy Sauce: Adds salty savor and color.
  • Garlic: Enhances the flavor
  • Green Onion: Adds extra color and flavor.
  • White Sugar: Adds sweetness.
  • Ground Black Pepper: Adds flavor and spice.
  • Sesame Seeds:  Gives more variety to dishes.
  • Sesame Oil: Essential in oriental dishes.

Preparation

  1. Marinate: Prepare a marinade in a shallow container with the soy sauce, garlic, ground black pepper, green onion, sugar, sesame oil, sesame seeds. Lay the beef and refrigerate for an hour or overnight for best results.
  2. Cook: Grill the beef on a hot grill plate at medium heat. Flip every 1-2 minutes or toast as desired.

Tips and Variations

Just like in other Korean dishes where vegetables are present, you can always have your Beef Bulgogi healthier.

  • Veggies: You can add stir fried vegetables or have them cooked using butter while grilling the beef. 
  • Butter: You can add butter when grilling for a more flavorful taste.

Storage:

Beef Bulgogi can come better when marinated overnight in the fridge or freezer for later cooking. Also, you can have the leftovers be in the refrigerator or freezer then have reheated later.

  • On the Fridge: Place in a container and put in the fridge. This can make the dish stay for 3-5 days.
  • Freeze: Place in a freezer bag then lay in the freezer. This can last up to 1-2 weeks.
  • Reheat: You may use a grill pan, skillet or microwave when reheating. Just  (thaw if frozen) set the heat at medium. 

Korean Beef Bulgogi

Serves: 4
Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 500g bulgogi meat or thinly sliced beef rib eye or sirloin
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp green onion, chopped
  • 2 ½ tbsp white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare a marinade in a shallow container with the soy sauce, garlic, ground black pepper, green onion, sugar, sesame oil, sesame seeds. Lay the beef and refrigerate for an hour or overnight for best results.

  3. You may add green onion on top before serving.
