A slice of crusty bread, topped with tomatoes and mozzarella makes up this Tomato Mozzarella Crostini recipe that you can have as an appetizer or during snack time.

Crostini in Italian means little crusts. This little crusts are incredibly delicious with flavors and texture put together that everyone can truly enjoy. This vegetarian appetizer is good to start a dinner party or even during snack time.

Ingredients

  • Italian bread: The crisp crust texture makes this perfect for this crostini.
  • Tomato: Sweet and sour taste.
  • Mozzarella Cheese: The texture is just mouthwatering.
  • Capers: Perfect to spice this up.
  • Olive Oil: The aroma plus it’s healthy to add.
  • Basil leaves: The minty taste!
  • Salt and Pepper: Add as desired.

Preparation

  1. Preheat: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Prepare for baking: Grease a cookie sheet then place the bread slices. Drizzle bread slices with oil. One teaspoon each.
  3. Mxture: In a medium bowl, mix tomato, basil, and capers. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Spread: Spread half of the mixture over the slices of bread. Top with mozarella cheese slices then spread the remaining tomato mixture.
  5. Bake: Place in the oven and bake until cheese melts.
  6. Serve.

Tips and Variations

You can also top this crostini with different fruits and vegetables or add more spices.

  • Apple: You can top this with thin slices of apple instead of the tomatoes.
  • Cheese: You can have cheddar cheese in substitute of the mozzarella cheese.

Storage

This is best when served immediately after preparing because of its ingredients that could easily spoil and affecting to the texture of this dish.

Tomato Mozzarella Crostini

Serves: 4
Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 12 slices Italian bread, 1/2 inch thick
  • mozzarella cheese slices
  • 4 tbsp olive or vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon large capers or chopped ripe olives
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
